Half Dome poster
The Half Dome climbing map represents an evolution in climbing cartography. This new approach consisted of contacting ascensionists for first-generation topos of every route. For me it was both an exhausting and inspiring process. It was super cool to hear about each climber realizing their dreams and visions.
In the end I felt like I should be writing a book, not drawing a map. Even the existing routes were verified rather than simply copied from older sources. The Half Dome poster was published in 1998 and includes eleven previously unpublished Grade VI route topos. First ascent and historical information, hole counts, and a photo of the face are printed on the left hand margin.
